How much can life change in a single year? One year ago, Debbie and Colton were having me photograph their maternity session. And they were just weeks away from welcoming their little boy, Chance. One year later, they have the sweetest little boy, and we were photographing their Tempe family photography session for Chance’s first birthday. A lot can change in twelve months. Infants turn into crawlers, who turn into sitters. Eventually, they become walkers and talkers. When deciding on our location this year, we knew we wanted to go somewhere different than our DC Marketplace maternity session. Town Lake was a perfect location for this Tempe family photography session. Not only do you have a beautiful view of the lake, but you also have great golden hour lighting.

Let’s start by saying, Debbie has a fantastic style. I am pretty sure she can make any outfit look good! There is an ease and sophistication to how both Debbie and Colton dress. Colton’s jean and collared button-down layered with his navy sweater are timeless and classic. Chance wore a mini version of his dad’s outfit with jeans, a plaid button-down top, and a gray sweater. He also sported the cutest navy Puma shoes. Chance would make the perfect Baby Gap model, with his sandy-colored hair and sweet smile.

Not only was it fun to see Debbie and Colton as parents, but it was also a lot of fun to see Cali in her role as a big sister. (Yes, Cali is technically a chocolate lab, but don’t tell her that.) She is gentle and attentive toward Chance. The two of them have such a sweet and loving relationship. Cali is also very protective of her little brother.

Debbie and Colton, thank you for letting me capture your family one year later. It is such a treat getting to see Chance grow up and to spend time with the two of you.
