North Phoenix: Fall Mommy and Me Photography Session

We were starting a new tradition but did not realize it at the time. Four years ago, Jill was asking me about taking photos of Ethan for their Christmas card. We toyed with the idea of making it a photo session for both Ethan and Jill. Three years ago, we made it happen, and our North Phoenix: fall mommy and me photography session has become a tradition.

Every year before I photograph Jill and Ethan, I reminisce about our last year’s photography session in Flagstaff. Getting to see those images reminds me of just how quickly time passes. Knowing that pretty soon, his mom will not be able to carry him on her hip like she used to. Or that one day Ethan will be too big to sit in his mother’s lap. We have to soak up these moments because soon they will be replaced with new ones.

This year, Ethan was excited to explore our location. It is incredible how much Ethan grows up between photography sessions. And it is so fun getting to watch his ever-changing personality. When I was first starting photographing Jill and her family, Ethan was just a baby. Now he is in pre-k, and it has been so much fun watching this little boy go through different stages and phases.

During our photography session, there were sweet moments of Jill and Ethan. They were singing songs, and we were playing games. I love Jill’s reaction whenever Ethan was running toward her or the sweet moments when they seemed to be sharing secrets. At the end of our mommy and me photography session, Ethan was asking his mom to flip him. Ethan was so quick I almost didn’t get the shot!

Thank you, Jill, for a tradition I look forward to every fall. Not only do I get to photograph some fantastic moments between you and Ethan, but I also enjoy designing your annual Christmas card. Getting to photograph you year after year is incredibly special.

PS Every year Jill wears something that incorporates her mom’s memory, this year it was a pair of boots her mom gave her. XO
