Today is my birthday: 2019. Around this time last year, I was sharing my birthday goals and checked in every three months to let you know how I was doing. As I revisit these goals I cannot wait to share my successes and failures! As well as sharing my new goals for this year.
If you would like to revisit my previous birthday blogs:

3. MY 6 MONTH CHECK-IN FOR MY BIRTHDAY GOALS: 2018
4. MY 9 MONTH CHECK-IN FOR MY BIRTHDAY GOALS: 2018
My Goals:
- I didn’t even come close to reading ten books. I read four “adult books” and countless children’s book. Podcasts became my new way to consume information.
- If I consider the entire last year I probably was exercising/stretching twice a week…tops.
- I am getting back to eating better foods and striking a healthy balance. But I definitely get into food ruts where I struggle to find foods that I enjoy eating and are healthy. I am going to claim laziness with this one!
- My husband and I have been taking advantage of day dates. (Can’t wait until next year…see #7)
- From trying to make sure I text him that I love him and focusing on his love languages, I think I did pretty good on finding ways to nurture our relationship.
- Spend quality time every day with each one of our kids: sharing our day, playing games, cuddling, and reading stories (Nailed it!)
- Zachary has been growing up so much this past year. He is starting to write and has been learning how to ice skate. Also, he is preparing to attend kindergarten in the fall. (I am both overjoyed and sad. Come this fall don’t be surprised if you see me skipping and crying at the same time!) Sydney and I are needing to go back to As You Wish and get our inner-artist on. But she is loving dance and every school paper she hands me has some kind of drawing on it.
- We are in the middle of Lauren’s dance competition season. She is loving every minute.
- There are plenty of friends that I am needing to catch up with and grab coffee or lunch. But I am thankful for the friends I get to see regularly.
- A special thank you to all of my clients for making my job rewarding. For allowing me to share in your journey. And opening up your heart to me. I am the luckiest girl in the world!
- The last 365 days have been filled with learning. My last count, I was up to 45 hours of professional learning and honing my craft.
- If the last 365 have taught me anything it is this. To continue to be grateful for the people that I love the most and to
contue to push myself to grow.
Birthday Goals: 2019
What I discovered about the past 12 months is that I am really good at taking care of other people. While continuing to nurture others, my goals for this year will be fewer and focus on my self-care. Pretty much the goals I was struggling to accomplish last year.
- Meal planning: (creating a plan instead of winging it) by increasing my veggie and fruit intake. Also, focusing on what I want to add to my diet rather than remove.
- Getting my body moving 3-4 times a week even if it is for 10 minutes. (I really was struggling with this one last year, but have been refocusing on exercising in recent weeks)
- Continue to refine my client’s portrait experience that not only creates loving memories but memories that can be shared for future generations. Also, continuing education to hone my craft.
- To have portraits taken with each one of my children.
- Schedule time to take better care of myself. My whole self, mind, body & spirit! (At least once a week.)
