When I greeted this wonderful family,  I knew this was going to be a fun session! Marlo and Brett have three adorable and active sons: Cooper, Carter, and Chase. We chose DC Marketplace for our family photography session because it offered an array of industrial backdrops. Perfect for our objective of an updated gallery wall for their home. I love when clients have an idea of how they would like to use their family portraits.

Long before our session took place, Marlo and I met to discuss her vision. Not every session needs an in-home consultation, but when the client and I have a start-with-the-end-in-mind goal, it really does help with the photography process. We were able to choose outfits that would best coordinate with Marlo’s dress and the family’s home decor. (tip: start with Mom’s outfit and work from there) We also discussed that Marlo and Brett wanted to capture the boys and their favorite activities. Cooper plays lacrosse, Carter is a gymnast, and Chase plays baseball.

During our session, these boys defined brotherhood. One minute they were goofing around and having fun, and the next minute they were having serious moments of love and respect. Watching these boys interact with one another made me want a household of boys. Just watching them and capturing their moments, you know they are going to be best friends for life.

Marlo and Brett, thank you for letting me capture your family. (We even got a few of just the two of you!) I loved every minute I spent with you and your boys. Although I am sure raising boys comes with its challenges, you two are doing an amazing job! It truly was a pleasure getting to witness your family’s love for one another. I cannot wait until our next session!
