They met while working at Diamond’s, perhaps better known as Dillard’s. Both attending Arizona State University, as an education and business major. Candy was notorious for having a date every Saturday night. (Let’s just say her dance card was full!) But she was happy to accept Dennis’ offer to take her out one Saturday night, and as the saying goes, the rest is history. During their anniversary session at Lake Pleasant, it was easy to see why Candy and Dennis fell in love.
It didn’t take long for these two to be inseparable. The pair would announce their engagement to their parents through the mail. Imagine receiving a carefully handwritten letter from your child proclaiming they were madly in love and getting married?!? They would marry shortly after college, in the church Candy grew up in, and in a dress that Candy would sew. And start life as most newly married couples do, with love that could fill the Grand Canyon, but not much in the bank account. Because when you have each other, you already have everything. Candy taught school, while Dennis started his real estate career. Years later they would start a family, have two boys, and eventually become grandparents.
After nearly forty-four years of marriage, there is probably no one else who knows you better. Who shares in your joys and cries alongside you in your sorrows. A true cheerleader through life. But it is the small moments in life that speaks volumes. During our session, those peaceful moments stand out. While heads were nestling onto shoulders, the quiet moments seem to whisper you were made for me. Completely home in one another’s arms.
Candy and Dennis, thank you for still being crazy about one another. Witnessing your affection toward one another is such a testament to everlasting love. Because truthfully, the way you still look at each other is inspiring. After your many years of marriage, you still act like college kids who can’t keep their eyes off of one another. It is easy to see why you have been married for as long as you have. Happy Anniversary!!
In honor of Candy’s dad, the boat carries the name SkiArt.
