There she was, her hair in pigtails. Avery was wearing a pair of pink scrubs. Still a toddler, but looking so grown up. Dressed like her mom, Karen, who is a nurse. You could tell the pink embroidered scrubs made Avery feel like her mom, superhero-like. She was so proud to wear those scrubs. Almost as proud as she was to be a big sister to Aidan. Just by the way she cared for him, he had her heart from the start. Gently giving him kisses and telling him how much she loved him. Aidan was to arrive a few days later via scheduled C-section, but this kid had other plans. Instead, he decided to show up early! After a quick update to our calendars, we were able to capture our hospital newborn session at Honor Health before it was time to go home.
If I only remember one thing about this session it would be how Avery and Aidan’s parents loved each other. The kind of love that you just can’t fake. They had so many quiet moments together and they couldn’t stop smiling at one another. The kind of smile that says I can’t believe we made this family. The kind of smile that says even though we are going to be exhausted and emotionally drained this was so worth it!
Karen and Kyle, thank you for letting me be a part of this moment. A new baby is incredibly special and I never get tired of photographing them, especially in the hospital. Watching Avery love and care for Aidan tells me so much about you guys. Karen, I just loved watching you look at Kyle and it was apparent how much you love your family. Kyle, I lost count of how many times you kissed that baby or reassured Avery. You are an amazing father. You are both amazing parents and these two are so lucky to call you their parents.
