Brook’s 1st birthday: A Look-Back

As I stare at my computer, I am in disbelief. How could five years already have passed? Five years ago she was just turning one?!? Still a baby…and a very cute one at that!! Brooke, you were just learning how to walk. Now, Brooke, you’re turning six and finishing kindergarten. You ride scooters and love chubby puppies. You were one of my very first clients. And you were such a ham during our session. Today, Brooke, you have such fun, loving, and adventurous personality! Brooke, in honor of your 6th birthday, let’s take a look back at your one-year session.

Five years ago, I was a mother of two. Our oldest was four and our youngest had just turned two. (Today, my youngest is the same age as my oldest was then.) I had just started my photography business, using our dining room table as my office and our kitchen nook as my studio. I had a simple white backdrop, but the sunlight drenched our kitchen nook, and it was the reason I wanted our house, I loved the light.

When you first arrived for our session, you had just woken up from a nap. You were still a little sleepy, but very sweet. Your mom dressed you in a bright pink dress your grandma had purchased. Your grandma loved buying you clothes! You had the cutest pink shoes, but you didn’t want to wear them. You wanted to hold your pretty shoes! It didn’t take much to make you smile. Your mom knew all the faces to make and what to say to get you to laugh. I didn’t need to do much to get those sweet and silly moments out of you. Brooke, you have grown up so much these last five years. Happy Birthday, Brooke!!
